A bridge transfer can look successful and still leave you stuck a week later: the tokens are on the wrong network, the destination wallet cannot display them, or the withdrawal is waiting while you assumed it had failed. The real catch with Manta is choosing the right network and asset before signing. Manta Bridge is mainly for moving ETH and supported Ethereum ERC-20 tokens between Ethereum Mainnet and Manta Pacific, not for sending every Manta-branded asset everywhere.
Check the route before connecting
First decide what you are trying to do. If you are moving funds into Manta Pacific to use an EVM application, you need an Ethereum-compatible wallet and the Pacific network. Manta Pacific uses chain ID 169 and ETH for gas. If your funds are on Manta Atlantic, that is a different situation: Atlantic is being retired, so do not treat an old Pacific transfer screen as a general Atlantic migration tool. Use the dedicated migration instructions for assets held there.
Before connecting your wallet, open the bridge through a trusted Manta Network property or a bookmark you created yourself. Check the spelling of the page, confirm that the interface says Ethereum Mainnet and Manta Pacific, and reject anything that asks for a seed phrase or private key. A wallet connection is normal. Giving away recovery words is never part of bridging.
Make a small, reversible first transfer
On the bridge, select the asset from the supported list, enter a modest amount, and inspect the receiving address carefully. The safest first test is enough ETH to cover a simple transaction on Pacific, not your whole balance. Leave a little ETH on Ethereum if you may need to make another transaction there; bridging everything can strand you before you can pay the next fee.
Deposits from Ethereum commonly arrive after the source transaction is confirmed, but “submitted” is not the same as “usable.” Save the transaction hash, wait for the bridge history to update, and add the token manually in your wallet if the balance is present but hidden. Never repeat the transfer simply because the wallet display is slow.
Going back to Ethereum deserves more planning. A withdrawal can involve the rollup’s exit process and may take substantially longer than a deposit, while Ethereum gas can also be expensive. Start it only when you can leave the funds untouched, keep the withdrawal record, and return to the bridge’s history rather than clicking a support link sent through a message.
That routine is deliberately uneventful: right network, supported token, small test, saved transaction, and enough gas on both sides. It removes the mistakes that make a straightforward transfer feel like lost money.
